Over the summer of 2018 – due to my experience and knowledge of Premiere Pro I was invited to work for HBS as Edit Suite Support Manager in Moscow for the World Cup.
As operations go, this was by far the biggest I have worked on, and actually probably the biggest in the world. Watched by over 3.5 billion people over the course of the tournament, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event on earth, and so to be a part of that – was an honour indeed.
I have always been a huge fan & advocate of Premiere Pro, and so it was fantastic to see it being put to use on an operation of this scale. As host broadcaster, our primary job was to take in all the feeds & captured media from all of the various stadiums and locations, and then redistribute edited packages etc to the various Media Rights Licensees.
The scale of the operation was truly mind-blowing. At the International Broadcast Centre in Moscow, HBS had approximately 50 operational edit suites running Premiere Pro, After Effects & a huge assortment of other broadcast applications.
One of the factors that influenced the choice of Premiere Pro being used for HBS was it’s ability to Dynamic Link to and from After Effects. This feature was used extensively, and allowed the editors and motion graphic teams to work seamlessly together.
As someone who loves to travel, I feel very grateful to have been able to visit the city of Moscow, and also be a part of such an amazing event. I also gained invaluable insight into the inner working of broadcast operations of this scale, and as always I take that insight into all of my training classes. This is one of the truly unique things that MediaCity Training offers – true operational knowledge of its subject matters.
